# Argus G2 Mini, a Voopoo pod put to the pocket test

> The Argus G2 Mini and G2 Mini+ tested for the pocket, with three pods, the 2 ml UK cartridge, the missing charging cable and the G4 Mini comparison.

On paper the **Argus G2 Mini** ticks every box for a pocket pod, with no screen, a built-in battery and a cartridge that refills in place.

Out in a jacket or a pair of jeans, things get less tidy. Two devices share the name, product pages written for other markets quote a larger cartridge than the UK one, and the box arrives without a charging cable. It pays to know which one you are holding first.

## Argus G2 Mini at a glance, two devices under one name

The **Argus G2 Mini** is a Voopoo pod system that fires on the draw and sets its own power to suit the fitted cartridge, up to 30 W. Voopoo gives it a 1200 mAh battery and a body measuring 115 x 25.6 x 13.4 mm, in aluminium alloy and polycarbonate.

Its sibling, the **Argus G2 Mini+**, keeps the same width and depth but grows by 8 mm to 123 mm to make room for 1500 mAh. Those extra 300 mAh add a quarter to the capacity of the base model.

Retail listings do not always separate the two, and a page whose address says G2 Mini can perfectly well describe a Mini+. The battery figure, 1200 or 1500 mAh, remains the reliable way to tell them apart.

## The pocket test, millimetre by millimetre

At 25.6 mm wide and 13.4 mm deep, the device is a flat bar that lies against a thigh rather than rolling around the bottom of a pocket.

Length is what separates the two versions, 115 mm against 123 mm. In a shallow pocket, a shirt pocket for instance, those 8 mm matter far more than in a coat. Voopoo also lists a TPD version of the G2 Mini, made for markets with a 2 ml cartridge limit, the UK among them, and it is slightly shorter, between 110 and 111.5 mm depending on which table of its specification you read.

Voopoo publishes no weight for the G2 Mini. For the Mini+, two retailers give 54.1 g and 55 g, and they disagree on the body material, zinc alloy for one and aluminium alloy for the other. What they do agree on is a metal body and a cartridge in PCTG, a clear plastic.

## Three pods to set the Argus G2 Mini draw

Both versions take Argus Top Fill cartridges, original or V2, each with a sealed coil that is replaced along with the pod. The resistance of that pod, more than the device itself, decides the style of vaping.

### The 0.7 ohm pod in the box

Supplied with the kit, it runs between 14 and 18 W according to Voopoo, giving a tight mouth-to-lung draw (MTL). It also produces less visible vapour than the 0.4 ohm pod.

### The 1.0 ohm pod, tighter still

It drops to 10 to 14 W for a very restricted draw. Lower power asks less of the battery, which counts on a device of 1200 or 1500 mAh.

### The 0.4 ohm pod, for a looser draw

Between 18 and 30 W, it uses all the available power for a restricted direct-to-lung draw (RDL). Battery and liquid go faster as a result, which weighs on a small device.

An airflow control on the body fine-tunes the draw from there. Two retailers recommend a balanced 50/50 e-liquid, a sensible match for small cartridges with a built-in coil, as explained in our guide to the [PG/VG ratio for vaping on the go](/uk/pg-vg-ratio-vaping-on-the-go/).

## Firing, lighting and the charge light, with nothing to press

The device fires on the draw, which rules out the accidental firing a button can suffer when it is pressed against keys in a pocket.

An ambient LED sits at its base. Voopoo says it switches on or off when you draw three times in a row within two seconds, a trick worth knowing to keep each puff less conspicuous in the evening.

The charge light stays white between 100 and 15 percent, then turns red. A two-state signal with no gauge means planning the recharge as soon as the red appears.

## Why the cartridge is 2 ml in the UK

Voopoo makes the cartridge in two versions, 3 ml as standard and 2 ml in the TPD version, and ships its TPD kit with a 0.7 ohm pod of 2 ml. British retailers list the 2 ml figure, while pages written for other markets quote the larger one.

The reason is legal. The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 cap the tank of a refillable e-cigarette at 2 ml, limit nicotine e-liquid to 20 mg/ml and keep refill bottles to 10 ml. When reading any specification sheet, 2 ml is therefore the figure to work with.

## Charging the Argus G2 Mini without a cable in the box

Voopoo's list of box contents stops at the device, a cartridge and the user manual, and retailers confirm that no USB-C cable is included. Any USB-C lead will do, and Voopoo quotes charging at 5 V and 1 A for the G2 Mini.

The simplest fix is a short cable kept with the pod, one of the [vape accessories](/uk/vape-accessories-on-the-go/) that genuinely earn their place, so you are not borrowing the lead that lives with your phone.

## Refilling while out without removing the pod

Filling goes through a side port near the top of the cartridge, under a silicone plug. Two retailers point out that the pod does not need to come off the battery to be filled, so the device never has to sit on a questionable ledge.

Reseat the plug flat before the device goes back into a pocket. When the coil wears out the whole pod goes, since nothing inside comes apart.

## Next to the Argus G4 Mini, is there still a case for it

Within the same family, the Argus G4 Mini pushes the battery a step further. The table compares the two generations using manufacturer figures or data confirmed by two retailers.

| Feature | Argus G2 Mini and G2 Mini+ | Argus G4 Mini |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 1200 mAh or 1500 mAh | 1650 mAh |
| Stated length | 115 mm or 123 mm | not published |
| USB-C charging | 5 V and 1 A (G2 Mini) | 5 V and 1.5 A |
| Charge indicator | white then red LED | bar in 25 percent steps |
| TPD cartridge | Top Fill V2, 2 ml | Multi-Ohm, 2 ml |

The G4 Mini wins on reading the charge and on its Multi-Ohm cartridge, which combines several resistances in one. Voopoo says Argus cartridges work across every device in the Argus Pod family, Top Fill V2 included, so pods already bought carry over from one device to the next.

Our view is clear. If a two-state light is enough, the G2 Mini+ does the job well, and the G4 Mini makes sense for anyone who wants to read the remaining charge in steps. ## FAQ

These questions come up most often when choosing or unboxing the device. The answers draw on the manufacturer's specification.

### Which colours does the Argus G2 Mini come in?
Voopoo lists eight, Sunset Orange, Violet Red, Spring Green, Aurora Blue, Violet Pink, Moonlit Gray, Starry Silver and Midnight Black.

### What comes in the box?
The device, an Argus Top Fill 0.7 ohm cartridge and a user manual. The TPD kit, the one sold in the UK, carries the 2 ml cartridge.

### Which coil resistances does it accept?
Voopoo gives a range of 0.4 to 3.0 ohms, with an output of 5 to 30 W and an output voltage between 3.2 and 4.2 V.

### Are the original and V2 cartridges interchangeable?
Yes. Voopoo gives the original Argus Top Fill cartridges and the V2 the same power ranges, and both generations appear in its compatibility list.

### Is it suitable for direct-to-lung vaping?
Only partly. The airflow covers mouth-to-lung and restricted direct-to-lung, not the wide-open draw of box mods built for large vapour volumes.

## Argus G2 Mini, our verdict for a pocket pod

For a jacket or jeans pocket, the **Argus G2 Mini** gets the essentials right, with a flat shape, draw activation, a pod that refills in place and an LED you can switch off. The Mini+ adds 300 mAh for 8 mm of length, a balanced trade.

What remains is a charge light without a gauge, a cable missing from the box and a cartridge held to 2 ml by UK rules, whatever a foreign listing says. With those three points in mind, the **Argus G2 Mini** is one of the easiest pocket pods to get to grips with, and the gear section of Fumée Urbaine keeps putting other formats through the same test.
